Business Affairs Manager
Role: Business Affairs Manager
We currently have an opening for a business affairs manager, for a fast-paced client, and we are looking for someone who has the skills to manage the following aspects of TV/radio/digital productions.
Responsibilities:
- Partnering with the producers and account teams on numerous concurrent TV, Radio and Digital productions.
- Partnering with the team and client on social media/content creator productions.
- Manage the day-to-day work for productions from a business affairs perspective: creating production agreements, awarding production insurance, estimating for talent, issuing talent contracts for sessions/productions, assisting with music licenses, managing and maintaining all financial aspects of the production jobs.
- Managing all talent components of productions including but not limited to negotiations, generating session/residual estimates, manage and execute contracts/deal memos/long form agreements.
- Possess knowledge of typical contract legal language, ensure the contracts include all necessary usage, and feel comfortable working and with legal documents and general counsel.
- Reviewing creative decks and scripts while working with general counsel to call out any potential legal issues to minimize Agency/Client liability.
- Negotiating usage rights for all third-party materials (footage, photos, names, etc.)
- Collaborating with the music department when engaging licensors to determine usage rights and overseeing/executing all corresponding licenses.
- Maintaining/monitoring production budgets and working with producers/finance to reconcile jobs when appropriate.
- Overseeing creative searches for talent, content creators, VO’s, etc.
- Work with the client on portions of the celebrity agreement reach-out process.
- Tracking commercial/talent usage and executing option terms if applicable.
- Working with Talent Payment coordinator to generate residual estimates.
Requirements:
- Be a great communicator, be very organized and consistently maintain historical information for each project.
- 3-5 years of Broadcast Business Affairs and licensing experience at an ad agency.
- Must possess strong knowledge base of the SAG-AFTRA Commercials Contract.
- Must be flexible, nimble, and able to acclimate to a very production heavy, fast-paced environment.
- Experience working with talent payroll companies and their online platforms.
- Comfortable with limited domestic/international travel.
- Should have working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, web-based talent payment platforms, Google Drive and talent payroll platforms.
Salary:
The range for this role is $80-$90K. Pay is dependent upon many factors ranging from experience, training, transferable skills, and business needs. The pay is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
